Our journey in the world of winemaking began in the 1980s in the small village of Fompedraza, in the province of Valladolid. It was then that the idea of restoring and planting new vineyards first emerged, always seeking the finest soils for cultivating Ribera del Duero’s jewel: Tempranillo, also known locally as Tinto Fino. Years later, with great effort and enthusiasm, we undertook the construction of a small winery with the aim of producing quality wines through the direct management of our own vineyards. Our commitment to crafting outstanding wines has grown over the years, along with the winery itself, expanding and incorporating technique and technology into tradition. We have always been certain that wine cannot be improvised to produce a great wine, nature must be carefully nurtured and its fruit united with dedicated craftsmanship.

The Benito Hernando brothers (Gaspar, Fernando and Javier), current owners and managers of the winery, have succeeded in shaping Bodegas Briego into a symbol of creation, dedication and hard work — values with which we feel deeply identified. With more than 77 hectares of estate-owned vineyards in a privileged setting within the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin, and a state-of-the-art winery where tradition meets modern winemaking concepts, we continue to develop and craft our wines. Since our beginnings, we have never stopped moving forward, striving for our wines to be recognised worldwide for their quality.

Pride, passion and constant dedication, the three essential pillars we have always sought to pass on to the new generations of the Briego family. Everyone involved in this project is committed to giving their very best every day to ensure that our high standards are consistently met. Our expansion into new markets and our growth are two objectives that are already beginning to be achieved, and with each step we take, our expectations for the future become increasingly optimistic. Today, we place our trust in and express our gratitude to nature and our team for all the good that lies ahead.
